🇪🇺 EU Omnibus Directive 🇺🇸 California SB-478 🇪🇺 Withdrawal rights & GPSR 🌍 Multi-market & multi-currency 🦉 Built for Shopify

Compliance matters.
It's the law, but also it's good business.

Since May 2022, every EU/EEA merchant who advertises a discount has had to show the lowest price the product was sold at in the previous 30 days. California's SB-478 layered in similar transparency requirements.

Shopify doesn't track price history, so merchants have been scrambling to find solutions that meet the legal requirements without a ton of manual work. We built Omnibus Owl to be that solution — and then added a bunch of extra features on top, because we know that compliance apps can be a bit... well, dry.

We built Omnibus Owl to do that bit perfectly — and then quietly give you a bunch of pricing tools you'd otherwise need three other apps for.

What's inside

More than just compliance.

Three EU rules, one app — lowest price, withdrawal rights, product safety. Then the tools that make Owl worth keeping.

The compliance bit

Automatic 30-Day Lowest Price Display

Owl tracks every price change on every variant from the moment you install — across all your Shopify Markets. The widget shows the lowest price from the last 30 days (extendable to 365 days) right next to the sale price, so your storefront is compliant by default.

  • EU Omnibus Directive ready out of the box
  • California Price Transparency (SB-478) coverage
  • Real-time tracking across all variants & markets
  • Drop-in widget via App Blocks or CSS selector
  • All data is stored in Shopify metafields

Withdrawal Button

EU-compliant, done for you.

Since 19 June 2026, every shop selling to EU consumers has to offer a way to withdraw from a contract — a visible link, an online statement, a confirmation step and a receipt. Withdrawal Button gives you all of it out of the box.

Add one theme embed and customers get a "Withdraw from contract here" link, plus an optional floating button. They fill in their name, order number and email, review the order, and confirm. They get an instant on-screen receipt, and Omnibus Owl automatically emails them a legally valid acknowledgment of receipt the moment they confirm — no setup, no DNS, no extra work from you.

  • Storefront withdrawal page and footer link, added with one embed
  • Automatic acknowledgment emails, sent instantly, editable per language
  • Accept, decline, or refund straight from the app, synced to your orders
  • Every statement logged with a CSV export and full audit trail
  • Ready-to-copy paragraph for your refund policy

Product Safety (GPSR)

Manufacturer details, safety info, sorted.

The EU General Product Safety Regulation requires your product pages to show manufacturer details, an EU-based responsible person where needed, and any safety warnings. Product Safety (GPSR) handles it for every product, in every language your storefront supports.

Assign manufacturers in bulk, add responsible persons where the law requires them, and drop in a theme block that displays it all automatically. Everything's stored natively in your own Shopify store, as metaobjects and metafields, so it's yours even if you ever move on from the app.

  • Bulk-assign manufacturers and responsible persons across your catalogue
  • Safety information in every published storefront language
  • One theme block, no manual page edits
  • Native Shopify metaobjects and metafields, your data stays yours
  • Audit view shows exactly what's covered and what's missing

Green claims Coming soon

Green Transition Directive

Ready before the rules bite.

Directive (EU) 2024/825 applies from 27 September 2026. It bans vague environmental claims like "eco-friendly" or "climate neutral" unless you can back them up, and it puts new rules around sustainability labels and durability claims on your product pages.

We're building it into Omnibus Owl the same way as everything else — storefront blocks, bulk assignment, and your data stored natively in Shopify. Install now for lowest price, withdrawal rights and product safety, and green claims arrive in the app you already have.

  • Substantiation details attached to the products that make the claim
  • Sustainability label and certification info shown on the product page
  • Durability and repairability information where it's required
  • Same theme blocks and bulk tools as the rest of Owl

In development — applies across the EU from 27 September 2026.

Saves you time

Auto-Compare At Price

Drop your price and the strikethrough appears automatically. No more digging into the compare-at field every time you run a sale. And it auto-clears when the price goes back up — so you don't end up with stale fake-sale prices haunting your storefront.

  • Sale price changes flow into compare-at instantly
  • Cleared automatically on price restore
  • No more "was $99, now $99" embarrassments
Auto-merchandising

Fresh Drop Dynamic Tagging

When a product hits a new 30-day low, Owl tags it automatically. Point a collection at that tag and you've got a self-maintaining "Just On Sale" page that never goes stale.

  • Tag removes itself after the window you set (1–90 days)
  • Powers a self-maintaining sale collection
  • Zero merchandising admin
Decisions, not spreadsheets

Price Insights

Pick a product, pick a market, see the price timeline against daily revenue. Did that markdown actually move units? Now you can answer that without spreadsheet gymnastics.

  • Per-product, per-market price timelines
  • Revenue overlaid on price changes
  • Answers the "did the discount work" question
Truth in advertising

Native Discount Tracking

Automatic Shopify discounts now get reflected in your 30-day history, so the lowest-price message tells the truth even when you're not editing product prices directly.

  • Automatic Shopify discounts captured
  • Compliance message reflects effective price
  • Works with sitewide promos and BOGO logic

Shopify Flow Triggers

Omnibus Owl fires Flow triggers you can build on. Use the ready-made templates or wire up your own automations to Slack, Klaviyo, or anything Flow can reach.

  • Trigger when a product hits a new price low
  • Trigger when a product gets the Fresh Drop tag
  • Connect to email, Slack, or any Flow-compatible tool

Omnibus Owl just earned
Built for Shopify status.

Built for Shopify

The highest quality benchmark Shopify gives apps — performance, design, and merchant experience all up to scratch. Pretty bloody chuffed.

Why we built it

Compliance apps are usually terrible.

When the EU Omnibus Directive landed, the only Shopify options were heavy, bolted-on widgets that broke themes, slowed down product pages, and looked like they were built in 2014.

We wanted something that felt like part of Shopify — installs in 30 seconds, doesn't touch your theme code, tracks every variant across every market, and renders a clean little widget that matches your storefront.

Then we kept going. Withdrawal Button and Product Safety (GPSR) for the rest of the EU rulebook — plus Auto-Compare, Fresh Drop tagging, Flow triggers and Price Insights, features that earn their place in your stack even on the days you forget compliance exists.

Owl is what happens when a price-tracking app stops being a chore.

How it works

Compliant in three steps.

01 — Install

Install from the Shopify App Store

Free plan available. Owl starts tracking every variant on every product the moment you install. Zero setup required to begin building your price history.

02 — Drop the widget

Add the price-history widget to your PDP

Use Shopify App Blocks from the Theme Editor, or a manual CSS selector for older themes. No code, no theme edits, no developer required.

03 — Turn on the good bits

Switch on Auto-Compare, Fresh Drop, Insights

The features that make Owl pay for itself. Most of them are off by default so you can adopt them when you're ready — but once they're on, you won't go back.

Questions

Frequently asked.

What is the EU Omnibus Directive and do I have to comply? +
The EU Omnibus Directive (in force since May 2022) requires that any price reduction be shown alongside the lowest price the product was sold at during the previous 30 days. If you sell to customers in the EU/EEA and you ever advertise a discount, you need to comply. Omnibus Owl handles this automatically.
Does Omnibus Owl handle California Price Transparency Law? +
Yes. California's price transparency law (SB-478) and the EU Omnibus Directive both require lowest-prior-price disclosure on advertised discounts. Owl tracks price history per market, so you can apply the right widget to the right region.
Can I track price history from before I installed the app? +
No — Shopify doesn't expose historical price data, so tracking starts the moment you install. The default window is 30 days, which is what the EU Omnibus Directive requires, and you can extend it up to 365 days if you want a longer compliance trail. Install once, set and forget: the longer it runs, the more bulletproof your compliance story.
What is the EU right of withdrawal, and does my shop need a withdrawal button? +
Under EU consumer law, shoppers can withdraw from a distance contract within 14 days without giving a reason. Since 19 June 2026 you also have to give them a straightforward way to do it online: a visible withdrawal link, a statement they can submit, a confirmation step, and an acknowledgment of receipt. If you sell to consumers in the EU/EEA, it applies to you. Withdrawal Button adds all four with a single theme embed.
What happens after a customer submits a withdrawal? +
They get a receipt on screen immediately, and Omnibus Owl emails them a legally valid acknowledgment of receipt the moment they confirm — no mail server or DNS setup at your end. The statement lands in the app, where you can accept, decline or refund it, and that syncs back to the Shopify order. Every statement is logged, with a CSV export and full audit trail.
What is GPSR and does it apply to my Shopify store? +
The EU General Product Safety Regulation has applied since 13 December 2024. It requires product listings to show the manufacturer's name, address and contact details, an EU-based responsible person where the manufacturer sits outside the EU, and any warnings or safety information. It covers nearly all consumer products, so if you ship to the EU/EEA or Northern Ireland, it applies to you.
Do I have to add manufacturer details to every product one by one? +
No. Create each manufacturer and responsible person once, then assign them across your catalogue in bulk. One theme block shows the right details on every product page, in every language your storefront publishes, and the audit view tells you what's still missing.
What is the Green Transition Directive and when do I need to comply? +
Directive (EU) 2024/825 — "Empowering Consumers for the Green Transition" — applies from 27 September 2026. It bans generic environmental claims like "eco-friendly" or "climate neutral" unless you can substantiate them, restricts sustainability labels that aren't backed by a certification scheme, and adds rules on durability and repairability information. If you make environmental claims about products you sell in the EU, it applies to you.
What should I do before September 2026? +
Audit the environmental claims already on your product pages and gather the evidence behind them — certificates, lifecycle data, scheme memberships. Anything vague you can't back up will need to go. Green claims support is in development in Omnibus Owl and will use the same storefront blocks and bulk tools as Product Safety, so there's nothing new to learn if you're already running Owl.
Do I need a developer to install the widget? +
No. The widget installs via Shopify App Blocks and App Embeds — drag, drop, done from the Theme Editor. For older themes that don't support app blocks, there's a Manual CSS Selector option that doesn't require touching code. The withdrawal page and the product safety block install the same way — theme embeds and app blocks, no code.
Does Omnibus Owl support multiple currencies and languages? +
Yes. Owl is fully integrated with Shopify Markets. Price history is tracked per market, and widget copy translates through your existing Shopify translation setup — automatic or manual.
What happens to my data if I uninstall? +
We don't delete it. Price history stays in your store's metafields, and manufacturer and responsible-person records stay as native Shopify metaobjects — they were always yours, not ours. Withdrawal statements stay exported in your CSV. If you want any of it gone, email us and we'll handle it.

Tick the box.
Then forget about it.

Free plan, install in 30 seconds. Your future self (and your compliance lawyer) will thank you.
